Hi everyone! These are the perfect and complete size-customizable granny squares for any crochet project. You can use these together to make cushions, blankets, clothing, etc. Watch the video demonstrations here & crochet along to my youtube tutorial.
Abbreviations:
ss - slip stitch / sc - single crochet / dc - double crochet / hdc - half double crochet / tc - triple crochet / chsp - chain space
1. Solid granny square
Make a magic ring or "fake" magic ring
NOTE: when you see "corner" - insert *2 dc + chain 2 + 2 dc* in the chsp
Round 1 - chain 5, 3 dc, chain 2, 3 dc, chain 2, 3 dc, chain 2, 2 dc, ss into 3rd chain
Round 2 - chain 3, corner, 3 dc, corner, 3 dc, corner, 3 dc, corner, 2 dc, ss into the 3rd chain
Round 3 - chain 3, 2 dc, corner, 7 dc, corner, 7 dc, corner, 7 dc, corner, 4 dc, ss into 3rd chain
Round 4 - chain 3, 4 dc, corner, 11 dc, corner, 11 dc, corner, 11 dc, corner, 6 dc, ss into 3rd chain
Round 5 onwards - start every round with a chain 3, 1 dc in every stitch across the sides until you reach a chsp, insert the steps for a corner in the chsp, repeat until you reach where you started, ss into the 3rd chain to end the round
2. Bow granny square (basically a solid granny square with any number of rounds + a bow in the centre)
First piece of the bow: chain 25
Top side - sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 2 tc, 2 dc, 2 hdc, 2 ss, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 2 tc, 2 dc, 2 hdc, 3 sc in last chain
Bottom side - 2 hdc, 2 dc, 2 tc, 2 dc, 2 hdc, 2 ss, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 2 tc, 2 dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc in last chain, ss into 1st stitch and fasten off
Second piece: chain 15, sc, hdc, dc, tc, dc, hdc, sc, ss, hdc, dc, tc, dc, hdc, sc, fasten off
Join the 2 pieces together by wrapping yarn around the centre. Then, sew or glue onto the centre of a solid granny square.
3. Heart granny square
Heart: make a magic ring
Round 1 - chain 3, 2 dc, chain 2, 3 dc, chain 2, 3 dc, chain 2, 3 dc, chain 2, ss into 3rd chain
Round 2 - ss into the middle stitch, chain 1, 8 dc into chsp, ss into chsp, chain 1, middle stitch *2 sc + chain 1 + 2 sc*, chain 1, ss into chsp, chain 1, 8 dc into chsp, chain 1, ss into middle stitch
Border rounds: attach yarn into the chain 1 (that's in between the sc) from the previous round
Round 1 - ss, sc, hdc, dc, tc, chain 2, dc, hdc, 4 sc, chain 2, 4 sc, hdc into the middle stitch, 4 sc, chain 2, 4 sc, hdc, dc, chain 2, tc, dc, hdc, sc, ss into the previous ss
Round 2 - chain 3, 4 dc, corner *1 dc + chain 2 + 3 dc*, 6 dc, corner *2 dc + chain 2 + 1 dc*, 9 dc, corner *1 dc + chain 2 + 2 dc*, 6 dc, *3 dc + chain 2 + 1 dc*, 4 dc, ss into 3rd chain
Round 3 - chain 3, 5 dc, corner *2 dc + chain 2 + 2 dc*, 11 dc, corner *2 dc + chain 2 + 2 dc*, 11 dc, corner *2 dc + chain 2 + 2 dc*, 11 dc, *2 dc + chain 2 + 2 dc*, 5 dc, ss into 3rd chain
Round 4 onwards - same steps as the solid granny square...1 dc in every stitch across the sides and corner steps *2 dc + chain 2 + 2 dc* in every chsp
