crochet granny square tote bag & mesh market/beach bag (written patterns + video tutorial)

Hi everyone! These are the companion patterns for bags youtube tutorial ep.3. Please keep in mind that these patterns are not meant to be followed on their own but are meant to be used as references for video demonstrations. 

Abbreviations:

ss - slip stitch / sc - single crochet / dc - double crochet / hdc - half double crochet / tc - triple crochet / chsp - chain space

Market/beach bag (stretchy yet sturdy and super versatile!)

- Make a slip knot and chain 21 (the length that you want for the top border + 1 turning chain)

- Crochet 6 rows of sc (total 20 sc stitches in every row)

- First mesh row: chain 5, turn your work, skip the first stitch then sc in the next stitch (this makes the first loop), repeat *chain 5, sc in every stitch* (total 19 loops)

- Crochet 32-34 mesh rows: repeat *chain 5, sc in every loop* (total 19 loops in every row)

- Crochet 6 rows of sc (total 20 stitches in every row)

- Chain 65 then ss onto the other side of the border

- Sc in every loop along the side until you reach the other side's border

- Chain 65 then ss onto the other side of the border

- Sc in every loop along the side until you reach the chains on the other side

- Sc in every chain, along the sides, in every chain on the other side, and along the edge once more

- Crochet more rows of sc all around the bag if you want the strap/sides to be thicker

- Ss into the next few stitches then fasten off

Granny square tote bag (spacious and perfect for university/school!)

- Make a total of 19 sunburst granny squares for this bag...

Round 1: make a magic ring, chain 3, insert 15 dc into the circle, ss into the 3rd chain and fasten off

Round 2: attach yarn into a stitch with a knot, chain 3 and puff stitch into the same stitch (2 yarn overs), chain 1, repeat 15 times *puff stitch (3 yarn overs) and chain 1* (total 16 puff stitches)

Round 3: attach yarn into a chsp with a knot, chain 3 and cluster stitch into the same chsp (3 half completed dc), chain 2, repeat 15 times *cluster stitch (4 half completed dc) and chain 2* (total 16 cluster stitches)

Round 4: attach yarn into a chsp with a knot, chain 4 and 2 tc into the same chsp, repeat until you reach the chsp where you attached your yarn *3 dc / 3 hdc / 3 dc / 3 tc + chain 3 + 3 tc*, insert 3 more tc into the chsp where you attached your yarn, chain 3 and ss into the 4th chain, fasten off
